Prof. Dr. Haiping Long

Prof. Dr. Haiping Long (Sun Yat-Sen University, China) is a holder of a Feodor Lynen Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship for Experienced Researchers. He started his research stay at the Institute for English and American Studies, Heinrich-Heine University, in 2019 and is now spending the last five months of his fellowship till 31st August 2023. He and Prof. Dr. Tania Kouteva are co-authors in a number of publications, the first one dating back to 2013. They are also two of the co-authors of two books published by Cambridge University Press in 2019 and 2021.
Their plan is to continue their collaboration within the framework of Discourse Grammar and Linguistic Typology with an emphasis on Mandarin Chinese, English and Bulgarian.

Prof. Dr. Ranjan Ghosh

Professor Ranjan Ghosh is Alexander von Humboldt Visiting Professor at the Institute of English and American Studies/Anglophone Literatures and Literary Translation. He teaches in the Department of English, University of North Bengal. His many books include Thinking Literature across Continents (Duke University Press, 2016, with J Hillis Miller), Philosophy and Poetry: Continental Perspectives ed. (Columbia University Press, 2019), Plastic Tagore (Oxford University Press, forthcoming) and the trilogy that he is completing to establish the discipline of plastic humanities: The Plastic Turn (Cornell University Press, 2022), Plastic Figures (Cornell University Press, 2024, forthcoming) and Plastic Literature (forthcoming).

He will be at Heinrich-Heine University Düsseldorf in October and November 2023, where he will work on transculturality, translation and the plastic turn with Prof. Dr. Birgit Neumann. He will also give a talk on Plastic Literature.
